I have McAfee security and it says that there are 17 items detected. What does this mean? Viruses?

how can i get rid of them with McAfee virus stuff. like where do i go to get rid of them. I have like the newest version, but i don't know where to go to get rid of the viruses. Is it that quick clean or something?? lease HELP!!!

It could be viruses, or simply tracking cookies. There should be a drop-down tab that allows you to fix the problem.

I don't use McAfee, but all antivirus or antispyware programs have a button that either says next, delete or quarantine, just look at the bottom part of your antivirus screen for the next button to click on or instructions to delete, clean or quarantine.

Some may be viruses, some may be trojans, some may be tracking cookies, they are some of the things that McAfee scans for and alerts you too. Some have higher risk than others and McAfee should be indicating that whenever it come across something to alert you to. I have McAfee myself, an older version, but I would suspect that this newer current version you have probably operates the same way. Mine alerts me to things as it finds them during a scan telling me where the item in question resides in my computer, gives me a threat level for what it finds, and it gives me basically 3 options when it finds something, to clean, to quarantine, or to delete. It usually recommends to clean first and if it can't clean it it tells me and then I'm left with the 2 other options. I then choose what action to take and tell McAfee what to do. If a necessary file is infected and I can't clean it or can't quarantine it and I have to delete it, I make note of the name and location and replace the file with a clean one. Rarely have I ever had to do that. Most of the time I've ben able to clean it or the file in question found is either in my temporary internet files folder or the temp folder and these are files that I can clean out and delete anyway and so I get rid of and clean out the entire folder and no harm is done.
