With personal experience, and from talking to friends I have found that no free music downloader program like Limewire is completely safe. If you want to sacrifice a mere $0.99 for a song you can enjoy for years and give the artist what he/she deserves then I would go with iTunes. I use it (I buy the pre-paid cards; no need for a credit card) and it works great! You can burn the music onto the CD and play it in the car, or put it onto your iPod etc. Buying songs through iTunes is cheaper than buying it at a store.

If you are going to use Limewire or another free program, make sure to SCAN the file before opening it with a good antivirus and/or antispyware program. In addition, if the size of the music file is like 400KB, you know it's a virus because the average song is around 2-4MBs.

I-tunes is safe from viruses but of course you have to pay. but for free music icewire hasnt given me any viruses
there is none that can promise you that you just have to scan everything you d/load ... or prob itunes i never use that
