Rundll32.exe??? Why do I have 3 of rundll32.exe? Are 2 of them viruses?

I have 3 rundll32.exe. I am worried that my computer has been infected by virus. Here are the following.

Rundll32.exe

Rundll32.exe

Rundll32.exe

As you can see, they are all the same except one thing. Memory usage and PID. I am not sure which 2 are the viruses, if you have a Rundll32.exe in your processes, then can you tell me how much K and PID it takes?

Oh and here are the K's and PIDs for the Rundll.exe

1. Rundll32.exe...1720PID...4 428K

2. Rundll32.exe...1556PID...4 524K

3. Rundll32.exe....432PID.....5 840K

Oh and if you only have one Rundll32.exe tell me which one of these is right. THANKS

Rundll32 is a host program that is part of windows...

What it does is it lets you call program functions that are in a DLL without having a whole other program to do it.

Viri and trojans do use this method to run processes under this ananymous host program...

Same thing happens with scvhost.exe as well...they can run files that dont normally run like functions in a DLL

Normally if you have a newer computer (xppro or later) then this file should not be running at all times, mostly it runs during a program setup when it will calls system32.dll for some registration functions.

You can search the registry and get more information there.

What do you mean 'hanged'? If you mean crash, then I need to know when it crashes, you may need to replace your Hard Drive Disk. If you can still access your files, BACK THEM UP! You don't want to lose everything.

Is it a Dell? If so, as soon as you start the computer hold in F8, it's ok if it beeps. After that use the arrowkeys to select Safe Mode. If you can get into safe mode, then back up your files. If you can't, tell me what happens.

I'm going to need more information. Do you still have the Windows Reinstallation CD?

I need you to tell me exactly what happens when you try to start up your computer.

Good Luck.

Too many TSRs. Check task manager.
You may have low Virtual Memory, try deleting some programs
Mine had that problem too. Do you have more than one disc drive in it?

I had a DVD/CD RW and a DVD ROM in mine and unless I had a disc in the ROM drive that system hang thing would happen. It was like that from day one and I never really understood why. I eventually removed the second drive entirely and put it in another computer and there's been no problems. Odd.

New to Macs. I hear people talk all the time about how "Macs don't get viruses" but d

I understand that programmers don't create viruses for Macs, I get that. I was wondering how universal that statement is. For example, if I was using P2P (peer to peer) software such as LimeWire, are my risks for getting a virus the same, reduced, or greater than if I was using a microsoft/windows based computer?

I really would like to know what the statement really applies to.

Thanks

New to Macs. I hear people talk all the time about how "Macs don't get viruses" but does that really apply?best antivirus software

A virus is a program, and as such it has to target a platform. A virus that targets Windows, which 99% do, will not run on an Apple platform. Apple's OS won't know how to interpret the code, and even then won't have access to the code libraries it needs to run. The virus is a chunk of binary garbage on an Apple. Your risk of virus' from P2P software is about nil. You may get a lot of them, but they won't be able to do anything.

they are very very very low compared to a windows machine

a mac is much more protected in its design while windows is more open

i myself prefer to delete the hole .dll file! If i were u, i'd just delete that piece of ... !

But notice that for deleting a dll file u should go to "safe mode" first and then get the job done.

good luck.

My spysweeper subcription has ended. will i still be able to find viruses?

i do spysweeps, buy i get no viruses, u mite think everything is normal, but i got htis weird pupup out of no were on my comp. then right after that i tried to spysweep. it found nothing. yes i did click to sweep all folders.

My spysweeper subcription has ended. will i still be able to find viruses?cafe racer

It will continue to look for any viruses your current version has information on, but if spysweeper sends out an update, your version won't be updated with it. So you could get a new virus without spysweeper finding it.

My spysweeper subcription has ended. will i still be able to find viruses?free anti virus

spysweeper is somewhat bloated and unreliable. if it expired, uninstall it and install adaware or spybot instead. btw, spysweeper and the 2 others i mentioned do not check for viruses - they check for spyware - different from a virus. you still need antivirus s/w.

Where can i download music for free, and it doesn't cause viruses?

other than kazaa, limewire, or bearshare, my mom wont let me get those because they cause viruses....

I have not gotten any viruses from Limewire and I have been use ing it for almost 2 years

Limewire and Kazza actually don't cause viruses. It's the files that you download. If you download music and video files they virus free but executables and msi's aren't
I haven't gotten viruses from the music...but anywhere you are stealing music..you will have viruses..simple..just go to a paying site..then you will have no worries..honestly
I've never had a problem with Limewire and viruses. However, sounds to me like you would be better off paying for music.

How Do I Protect My C Drive, How Do I Not Allow Viruses To Install Themselves In My C Drive...?

Can I Lock The C Drive But Not Make It The Defalt Drive, But Assign It Another Letter...?

Would Switching The Drive Letter, Prevent Anything From Installing On It...?

WHAT THE HELL DO I DO TO STOP VIRUSES FROM INSTALLING ON MY HARD DRIVE.. I HAD TO RE PARTION MY C DRIVE..

Thank You...

Why re-partition? You could just wipe the whole machine if you save all of your important files. All computers come with a back up partition, although by re-partitioning yours you may have messed up the restore function.

How Do I Protect My C Drive, How Do I Not Allow Viruses To Install Themselves In My C Drive...?free antivirus

Easiest answer is to be careful about what websites you visit. If you go to an Internet site and it asks to download something, SAY NO! A good firewall is a start. ZoneAlarm has a free one you can download and install. Good antivirus software is a MUST. Grisoft's AVG product line includes a free downloadable product; it's even updated regularly for free! Google "AVG Free", make sure you get version 7.5. Viruses go for your C: drive because that is, by default, your primary hard drive. It's what they're programmed to do. Don't download attachments from strange e-mails, don't open e-mails from people you don't know, don't go to skeevy websites ("free p0rn0 b00bi3z cl1ck h3r3")...it's common sense stuff.
Forget about all those things listed.
