Stuff Limewire, its too dodgy for virus's %26 spyware. Torrents are better but you still have to be careful!

Theres no secret or trick to this its just that people don't know how to use google to its full potential.

The only downside is you need to know the name of the song your looking for and only want the one track (though you may find others along the way). For albums you might have to search for each track BUT I find that theres usually more than one track in the folder.

i get told by my friends that my computer tries to send viruses through msn.

it comes up as something like: "hey, have a look at my new hair colour. what do you think? too dark?"

but instead of it being a picture file, its a zip file. the file is called "l52ju"

i know that if its doing this then my computer is obviously infected as well. how do i fix my computer??

Yea thats a really annoying virus

Just tell everyone to NOT click on it.

I did the same thing.

But to get rid of it, i UNINSTALLED the program and deleted it completley.

I then REINSTALLED it by DOWNLOADING it again. Heres the link for it:

Apparently sometimes this doesn't work but it did for me.

Also remember to always have a FIREWALL and something like a AVG so that your computer can block and detect Spyware and other viruses.

you need to unistall msn, then run a anti virus program. avg is the best, then re install msn and that should totally wipe out the virus that u have.

well thats semi true BUT ma are built on top of a secure OS to begin with while windows is not, so while you are correct that a bigger "target" would attract more virus writers a lot of them are "script kiddies"who don't truely know virus writing.

So there would be a huge learning curve as the mac OS is based on unix

but once again writing viruses for a OS that takes security very important and on top of that is more secure than windows (to begin with) might curtail the virus writers or lead them to seek easier pastures (i.e windows)

it's hard to tell because Mac's have government level security on them. I would say they'd definitely be more of a target. and it IS what OS you have....PC's have lots of loopholes in their security...Macs are built better, cost more in return.
two part answer one is the popularity of the OS , since windows has alot of vuneralbilitys its the one that gets viruses the most along with it being a popular program.

Its not the client itself that gives you the virus, its the content you download. Using limewire is legal, but downloading isnt. The key to downloading is after you downloaded everything is make sure you close limewire, and clean out your shared folder. Also make sure you know what you are downloading, then you will be safe from viruses. I recommend only downloading music from limewire.

downloading media off of limewire is in fact, illegal, but the program however is not. People think that the pro version of limewire is legal to d/l thing off of which is not true. stealing w/o paying for content is always illegal. Limewire also has a lot of viruses, so if you do choose to use it, beware of files.
Limewire is just like Napster. No its not legal. Yes you can get viruses on your computer.
limewires great take no notice of all the crap you read about it on here as for catching these virus I think only a novice would be stupid enough to open exe/ bat files etc , if you stick to just downloading mp3 files you will have no problems

It is legal to have to actualy software, but if you use it to load songs for other people to download, or download songs, then it is illegal. Although it is illegal, any authorities that moniter that, moniter the people who load the most songs. Like anything you download off the internet, it can give you virusis.
It's legal to have the program on your PC but illegal to use it and to be honest, it isn't advisory because it has quite a few viruses. A legal alternative is Songbird which search songs on a website called www.skreemr.com
